I plan to photograph a His Masters Voice 2006 Monarch record player for my portrait concept. I would like to create an image of a person listening to records, much like what you would see on an advertisement for a record player. I researched the record player that I own and there are no advertisements in existence which is why I thought it would be interesting to create one.
Below I have included some pictures of record players. I have not been able to find any pictures of the record player I own because it is so old, so therefore I have included pictures of record players with similarities to mine.
I think that the image on the left is quite simple and not very effective, but the main reason I chose it is because it resembles my record player. I like the central image because it also includes nature which gives the impression that the record player has been left to decay. I also like the photo on the right because of the fact it is a Polaroid and how dull the colours are.
I decided to look for advertisements showing record players so that I could try and imitate this style on the day of shooting.
The target audience for this could range from music lovers to poster collectors. I aim to create a portrait of a person listening to records as if it were an advertisement. I would like to add effects to the photograph afterwards to give it a more vintage feel. I aim to promote this product in a way that other advertisements in the past have done, which makes you feel that you could really enjoy yourself listening to your new record player.
